At Kingshill Infant and Nursery School, we aim to inspire children’s curiosity, stimulating all children’s interest and understanding about the life of people who lived in the past. We aim to make all children aware of the actions of important people in history and enable children to know about significant events in British history, whilst appreciating how things have changed over time. We carefully select the significant people that the children learn about to provide inspiration from different cultures and genders. 

In Nursery and Reception, History is linked to the specific learning area 'Understanding of the World'.  In the Early Years, they use a topic approach.

In Year 1 and Year 2, we cover the requirements of the National Curriculum. We have created our own bespoke curriculum.  History is taught once a week through a discrete lesson.
