At Kingshill Infant and Nursery School, we intend for all our children to experience and enjoy using a range of materials and techniques as well as encouraging them to develop their art skills in a creative and imaginative manner. We also want our children to have the opportunity to develop ideas and express their individuality, feelings and emotions. We feel it is important for children to develop a love of a range of existing Art, through the study of artists. We aim to encourage an appreciation of art and the confidence to express their views.

In Nursery and Reception, Art is linked to the specific learning area 'Expressive arts and design'.  In the Early Years, they use a topic approach.

In Year 1 and Year 2, we cover the requirements of the National Curriculum. Art is taught through a weekly discrete lesson.
